Hey!

Also, was genau ist eigentlich passiert?

Nichts.

      Hi,
I am sorry to tell you but the development of the Play Music Exporter has stopped. I have not the necessary energy to keep this project alive.
There are a few forks of this project. You should check them out: https://github.com/Arcus92/PlayMusicExporter/network

Now that Google is killing Google Play Music and replacing it with YouTube Music could someone make the necessary changes to the Play Music Export to support YouTube Music?

Wow Google must have really threatened you and your family pretty bad. Because that’s exactly what I would say if I was in your shoes. (Sigh) Such a shame that these corporations have so much power. Absolute power corrupts. Power corrupts absolutely…..Google going out of there way to step on the lil guy again….

      Hi,
Google did actually nothing. Google didn’t contact me or anything. They didn’t not change the encryption method after they removed the original app from the Play Store. I think the original code will still work today. There are two main reasons why i stopped the project: First, i’am super lazy. I can’t even update my homepage. The second reason is … i don’t have a rooted device anymore. I use some banking apps and Netflix (of course). These apps won’t work on rooted devices.
There is no threat. Look, even my GitHub-Page with the source is still up.

Long story short: I stopped because of laziness and Netflix.

David, I would like to say a big thank you for developing the play music exporter app – I was able to back up my library before the service was shut down. Do you have any interest in developing a similar app to work with the YouTube Music app? Would it even be that hard to port the code? You should know that a physical rooted device might not be required, and an Android emulator such as Nox might be used as a test environment – that’s what I used for downloading. I would even donate cash to see a new app developed, but maybe you’re too busy these days. What really bugs me is that if I want the freedom to play songs on devices that don’t support online streaming then I am forced to try and pirate it or buy it (a second time?). I hate this rental age of digital content we’ve entered, and I also hate things just disappearing altogether (cough, Netflix). Let me know your thoughts!
